You may not know what this word means so I will tell you! Lying "one who steals someones story and twist it to make it theirs; one who steals people thunder; one who lies to make themselves look good". Some would call it a back seat driver! Victorism reminds me of a liar! Liars bother me, I don't understand how it would make someone feel if they lied about something in front of the person they are lying about right infront of their boss!! Anyways a wise McCoyerism scholar once told me that "My biggest fear is being unappreciated vy the people that I appreciate the most" this leads me to wonder "why do people lie in the first place" I believe that if you lie, one day that lie is going to turn on you and bite you in the ass!!

Thanks for Reading

McCoyerism

Hello everyone,

YOU SEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.... I have come to the understanding that the more you grow close to someone that person either runs away from the friendship or get closer and become the person that you share secrets to, and do everything together. One scholar that always tries to strive to impress his fellow comrades Mr. McCoyerism quoted this, "A wise man once quoted "A man that says he has five true friends, really only has one and the rest are frienemies" this is quite right! When you have many friends our society has evolved to make it known that out of all those friends only one will stay true to you and the others will either talk behind your back or even worse steal, lie and become your worst nightmare because you confinde in them secrets about your life that now that they are your frienemies those secrets will spread throughout your circle, because they really do not care what you think and how it will hurt you it is just gossip and something to make them ahead of you. Anyways that is my thought of the day!

Have a good one

Types of socities

Hello to all,
I have been learning about types of groups in school and I thought that maybe I could share with you what I learned. So there are several types of groups and I am going to modernize them to help you understand! Okay the first type of society is know as a "band" society. This is know is the simplest form of human society. A band generally consists of a small kin group, no larger than an extended family or clan it has been defined as consisting of no more than 30 to 50 individuals. So in modern terms a band would be like the Duggards on TLC but a litle smaller. the Duggards would be a band because their little society consists of their family and no outsiders. Another society would be known as a "tribe" which is described as a larger form of the Band society, and they have what is known as a "big man" in the society which is a form of leardership. In the modern world a tribe could be known as like any reality show. In the reality show you have that one person that is in control especially in a dating reality show where the person that is choosing is the "big man". Another type of group is the states socitey. This society is known as the largest one where you have a population and you have a distinction of who is in charge and who is not. The modern way of seeing this is the United States, this is where you have a president in charged you have a set government.
Thanks for reading
Rheagan

Arctic People

Hello All!
Have you ever thought about living in the Arctic? I really never thought about it untill I took my maritime studies class and found out that they were people still living in igloos and hunting whales. These people are known as indigenous people natives to the arctic much like Indians natvie to the United States before we took over. And did you know that calling an indigenous arctic person an "eskimo" is used in meaning bad terms. Just thinking about how they would have to live to be able to survive up there just brings chills to my spine. Everything that you would need to survive would be much more expensive than living in a city in the Arctic. As indigenous peoples your only need for food is if you live on the coast line would be whale. And now a days even that freedom to hunt whales being regulated. Don't people understand that this is their only way of survival and if you take that away from them then they will have nothing. Just think about surviving in the Arctic all you had to keep you warm in your igloo is a candle made from the blubber of the whale that was killed, your child plays with a doll craverd from whale bone and most of your meat comes from that whale. One whale can feed a whole society for about a couple of months. So if the indigenous people only need to kill a whale every two or three months then why is it such a big deal to people that don't live in igloos. Oh because the ideigenous people are selling the whale blubber and bones and meat to the villages and other companies instead of feeding their families. If the indigenous people are trying to make a living doing this then we should step in because it seems to me to be alot like whaling that was outlawed back in the 1900's. Indigenous people are very intresting to me, I wished that I belonged in a society like this.

Thanks for reading,
Rheagan

Cultural??!!??

When you look around you everyone is different. That is becouse everyone has a different culture. If you think about it you may have many different types of culture. For instance, I my family is from Michigan, so we have a different taste for food than someone of a southern background. My boyfriend is from Texas and he loves spicy foods and loves to cook BBQ and brisket, where my family is more of a steak and potatoe type, plain and dry. You may have culture differences between family mambers. My sister goes to Texas and so she bleeds orange and white, where I go to Texas A&M and I bleen Maroon and White, when ever we are home at the same time it is so much fun to poke fun at her and her view points because they are so much different that mine. Culture is very different among ethincity for example the Mexican Americans are very very family orinated they bring along their whole family where ever they go. I really like the idea of family outings and I think we could learn from their values. Culture where ever you go will be different and you will catch on to that culture and make it your own to share to your family or other people around you!

Thanks for reading
Rheagan

First Impressions of College Life

My first year of college went very well! Living on my own and buying my own food and going to school with out my parents making me going was a wake up call all on it's own. My first year in college I lived in a dorm room. I really did not have a whole lot of responsibilites just making sure that my side of the room was clean and that I was not loud when my room mate would go to bed. Then my second year came and I finally got an apartment and that is when reality slapped me in the face. See at home my parents bought my food and I never had to pay rent, but here whoa.... I had to get a job and pay rent and buy food! School and work and trying to find time to go out and socialize (partied) was very hard but I managed. My partying got a little out of hand but who hasn't gone out and partied when you were on your own for the first time. School was alot harder than high school when I first started going but that was because my priorities were not in order, for me it was friends, work, and then school. When I finally realized what I was doing it was to late for that semester I was put on acamedic probation, thats when I realized that I needed to focus more on my schooling. And now after many, many bumps in the road I am finally on track. Now that I am in my 4th year of college and I know what I want to do for the rest of my life, i am ready to graduate in the fall of 2010! Who is in charge of telling a particular culture that they can not keep a certain artifact? Can indigenous people, meaning those that were in a given area “first”, own their own culture? Can indigenous people get benefits form pharmaceutical companies for botanical knowledge? I believe that indigenous people do not have the right to keep their own books, photographs, images, and films concerning their culture that was written by someone else, they can not take credit for something that was not their doing. I do not believe that when it comes to other people writing a book about the indigenous people that they can not change the wording of the book, and they can not dictate what they want to be in the book. When it comes to cultural elements such as traditional designs, songs, music, or botanical knowledge I believe that those elements belong to the indigenous people, it is their traditional their beliefs and their culture. Any artifacts should be discussed between the culture and the archaeologist. One thing that scholars should understand is that when a scientist discovers a culture with botanical knowledge they will take that information and use it to make a new drug, and give no credit to that particular culture. I believe that this is wrong I believe that when a scientist discovers a botanical plant I think that they should give credit toward the culture. Although I do not think that the culture deserves any royalties for the commercial use of their traditional knowledge.

Autobiography II

Hello, or should I say Howdy, for those of you who don't know me, my name is Rheagan Keller! I am currently attending Texas A&M Galveston class of 2010 Whoop! Anyways I was going to the school to originally become a marine biologist, so I could swim with the dolphins and work at Sea World one of the most magical places on earth, but going into my second year of biology I found out that it was not all fun and games, and it became way to hard! Now I will be majoring in MAST ( maritime studies) it is the Liberal Arts program here at Galveston, and I love it. I have learned a lot about anthropology and now i want to teach it! When I do graduate I plan on becoming a teacher which is something that I have wanted to do since I was little, well I have always wanted to become a marine biologist but things happen and you change your mind! When I do end up receiving my teachers certificate, I will finally be teaching. I have a lot of motivation to graduate and start my life one of them is my fiance! I am so ready to be married and settle down and start a life with him! Another reason is the fact that I don't have any money and once I get my teaching job it will be some sort of income! One of the best things I have done with my life is to choose to come here to Texas A&M Galveston! This campus is smaller than my high school!

Thanks for reading
Rheagan
